Army Ten-Miler - Finish Corral Volunteers
Position Overview
Beyond the Finish Line is the deceleration zone and the finish corral area where runners end the race. (The corral is located in Pentagon Parking lanes 35 - 36, as identified in the
ATM Staging Diagram
).
As a finish corral volunteer, you are responsible for monitoring the flow of runners, keeping them moving after they have crossed the finish line and are moving into the finish corral. Your team must keep runners moving into the Runner Finish Corral. You should ensure all personnel have a general knowledge of runners' peak arrival times. Work with your team to ensure the Finish Line area includes only authorized, credentialed personnel. Your point of contact is the
finish corral coordinator
.
You and your team must watch for runners who need medical attention, and notify a medic if necessary.
Time/Location Information:
As a finish corral volunteer, you need to report to the Volunteer Check-in Tent in the South Pentagon Parking Lot Lane 21 at 6:00 A.M. At race-end, you will be positioned in the Runner Finish Corral area (not in chutes).

Task Detail
Direct runners to one of two exits to receive their finishing coins
Your job is to direct runners to one of the two exits to receive their finishing coins. There a
volunteer coin distributor
will distribute one ATM Finish Coin to each runner.
Prevent runners from re-entering the finish corral
Do not allow runners to break through or go over the corridor barricades.
Prevent spectators from entering the finish corral
In addition to providing coins to participants, your job is to keep people who are not runners or volunteers out of the Finish Corral.
Direct runners to additional water at the end of the chute
You are responsible for monitoring the flow of runners but also stepping in and assisting with distributing water, if necessary while the runners are within the corral area.
Report medical or other concerns to coordinator
Make a visual inspection of runners in distress. If you identify a potential problem, alert the on site medical personnel stationed in the area.
