Army Ten-Miler - Award Ceremony Volunteer
Position Overview
At the award ceremony recognition is given to the top runners and wheelchairs participants of the Army Ten-Miler (ATM). The master of ceremony is the ATM Announcer (Ken Berger) and the prepared script is developed by ATM.
As an Award Ceremony Volunteer, your job is to support the Award Coordinator, ensuring the stage is properly set up and ensuring awards are presented in the proper order.
On Sunday, at 9:30 AM the Individual Awards sheets are delivered to the award stage and the Team Awards are delivered at 10:00 AM. The top winners assemble at 10:45 AM at the side of the stage. These winners include the first wheelchair male and female, top three males and females, first master (age 40 and over) male and female. The first place team in each division will receive their award on the stage. Other additional award winners (individual awards for the age groups and the second through third place teams) will pick up trophies from the award tent to the right of the stage. ATM lead sponsors will participate in the award presentations.
Time/Location Information
The Award Coordinator and Award Tent Lead sign in on race day at the Volunteer Check-in Tent in the South Pentagon Parking Lot Lane 21 at 6:00 AM and report to the Award Stage / Award Tent at 6:15 AM.
Key Tasks
- Review results for accuracy and completeness
- Distribute awards in order
- Manage problems
Review results for accuracy and completeness
Overall Awards will be determined by "gun time". Age Group Awards will be determined by "net time". Team Awards will be determined by "net time". There will be no duplication of awards except in the event of a Master male or female (age 40 and over) winning their overall division of competition. In that case, we will award both the Overall and the Masters award to the runner. Individuals who win an overall award will not win their age division.
To ensure accuracy and completeness of the results review the times for proper listing (gun or net) results. Ensure those approaching the stage are the correct award winners and not age groups. If a dispute arises concerning race results or awards contact the Operations Manager.
