Position Overview
The information tent provides a location for runners and guests to receive answers about the race, weekend activities, and vendor locations. The information tent also serves as the central location for the Lost and Found.

Location/Time
Report to the Volunteer Check-In Tent in the South Pentagon Parking Lot Lane 21 at 6:00 AM and report to the Information Tent.

Tasks

  • Answer general questions about the race, weekend activities, and vendor locations
  • Relay challenges to ATM Event Coordinator
  • Run "Lost and Found"
  • Attend to lost or missing children

Task Details

Answer general questions.
As a volunteer at an information tent, you never know what question you will be asked. Be prepared by familiarizing yourself with locations for exhibits, food, schedules, and facilities. Be prepared to identify vendor locations. It is essential for all Information Tent personnel to be familiar with essential race day information and site layout. Available materials include the following

  • List of events by time and location
  • Staging site layout
  • Course map
  • Pentagon area map including Start area, extra Runner's Programs, directions to general parking
Relay challenges to ATM Event Coordinator
You will have race day contact list and be in radio communication with ATM Event Coordinator, Joe Castro.

Run "Lost and Found "
When items are delivered to the lost and found, enter the item into a tracking log. All claimed items must be accompanied by appropriate identification. All unclaimed items are to be turned into the ATM Operations Manager, George Banker.

Attend to lost or missing children

If a child is reported lost or missing:

  • Obtain the name, age and description of the child.
  • Coordinate with emcee / announcer to announce "lost child" information.
  • Coordinate with security to obtain assistance in locating the child.
  • Escort the lost child to a predetermined Information Tent. Keep the child until parent(s) or legal guardian(s) identity is established by proper ID and recognition from the child.
  • If / when a lost child is found, have emcee/announcer make an announcement canceling the "lost child alert".
  • Coordinate activities through the Race Operations Center (ROC)
