Army Ten-Miler - Youth Fun Run Table Volunteer

Position Overview

The Youth Fun Run, a long time attraction of the Army Ten-Miler, typically attracts more than 300 children. The two youth runs are for the grades K-3rd grade and 4th through 8th grade. All participants must be pre-registered. At the end of the run each finisher receives a medal. Parents and kids in grades K-3 will participate in a 200 meter run while kids in grades 4 through 8 will participate in a 400 meter run.

As a Youth Fun Run Desk Volunteer (on Friday and/or Saturday), you are responsible for distributing t-shirts for people signed up for the youth run, and handling new registrations for the Sunday run.

Location/Time

This year, packet pick-up will take place at the DC Armory, 2001 East Capitol Street, SE (adjacent to RFK Stadium) in Washington, DC. You will work at the Armory location.

10:30 AM - 3:30 PM 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Shift 2
3:00 PM - 8:30 PM
12:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Shift 3
  3:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Responsibilities

  • Verify registration for race and issue t-shirt.
  • Work with the parent/guardian who wishes to register a child for the Youth Fun Run.
    • If space is available, issue a registration form
    • Ensure the parent/guardian completes and signs the form
    • Accept payment, provide receipt
    • Issue a t-shirt for the child participant
  • Secure any new registration form and payments received
    • Registrants must provide exact amount or write a check payable to "Army Ten-Miler"
