Army Ten-Miler - T-shirt Distributor

Position Overview

As T-shirt distributor (Friday and/or Saturday volunteer), you are responsible for organizing and distributing runner t-shirts. You will work with runners to provide shirts in the appropriate size and style. As a volunteer, you will either work at a table distributing standard t-shirts or work at the table distributing upgraded t-shirts. Your team leader is Jimmy Willis.

Location/Time

This year, packet pick-up will take place at the DC Armory, 2001 East Capitol Street, SE (adjacent to RFK Stadium) in Washington, DC. You will work during this time (refer to the chart below).

Volunteer Shifts

  Friday October 2nd
Saturday October 3rd
Shift 1
10:30 AM - 3:30 PM 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Shift 2
3:00 PM - 8:30 PM
12:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Shift 3
  3:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Responsibilities for Distributing Standard T-Shirts

  • Work with a team of 18 to distribute runner t-shirts based on size
  • Follow this procedure:
    • Ask to see the runner's bib
    • Check to see if the runner should be issued an upgrade (UPGR) and, if so, send the runner to the upgrade table.
    • Check the size on the bib and issue a t-shirt based on that size
    • Circle the size marking and initial the bib (so the runner will not be issued another shirt)
  • Refer to special circumstances table below.
Special circumstances for distributing standard t-shirts:
If Then
the runner's bib has UPGR on it
Do Not issue a standard T-Shirt;
Direct runner to the upgrade area
the runner is picking up shirt for another runner
Ensure the runner has the other runner's bib
the runner needs a different size shirt
Provide the shirt and mark the runner's bib with the appropriate size

Responsibilities for Distributing Upgraded T-Shirts

  • Work with a team of 6 to 10 to distribute pre-paid upgraded runner t-shirts. The upgraded t-shirt replaces the standard shirt. Runners do not get both shirts.
  • Follow this procedure:
    • Ask to see the runner's bib
    • Check to see if the runner should be issued an upgrade (UPGR)
    • Check the size on the bib.
    • Ask the runner to sign the list (of those who receive upgraded shirts)
    • Issue a t-shirt that matches the size ordered. No changes.
    • Circle the size marking and initial the bib (so the runner will not be issued another shirt)
Special circumstances for upgraded t-shirts:
  • If the runneris expecting an upgrade but is not listed on the upgrade list, send the runner to the "solutions desk" to work out the problem.
