With perfect weather for a ten mile road race, 21,289 runners showed up to run the 25th annual Army Ten-Miler on October 4 in Washington, DC. The field included two event record holders and numerous past ATM winners. Many elite runners came out with the intent of breaking the event records and two were able to accomplish this feat Alene Reta and Samia Akbar.

The ATM is ready to kick off its race weekend with a two-day expo at the DC Armory. Come on down and experience the fun firsthand. Get a chance to meet former ATM winners, event holders, Wounded Warriors and runners hosting shadow runs in Iraq and Afghanistan. The race is going to take place on Sunday at 8:00am at the Pentagon rain or shine.

Army Ten-Miler (ATM) is going high-tech! This years 25th anniversary race will join the ranks of other notable running events by using the specialized ChronoTrack D-Tag scoring system (www.chronotrack.com). The D-Tag system offers state-of-the-art radio frequency identification (RFID) data collection technology providing superior accuracy in score times and easier application. To better serve this years runners, ATM switched to the single-use, all-weather timing device that is simply attached to shoes and disposed of following the race.

WASHINGTON, DC We have a winner! After competitive online voting worldwide, the Army Ten-Miler (ATM) announced today that Alexandria, Virginia resident Julie Socher is the grand prize winner of the annual ATM T-shirt Design Contest. Ms. Socher will receive a $1000 cash prize and her award-winning design will be featured on more than 30,000 official race and volunteer t-shirts for the Armys 25th anniversary race.

Great news for military runners! Army Ten-Miler (ATM) officials announced that an additional 500 ATM race entries will be offered to U.S. Armed Forces service members through a special, online lottery on 15 - 18, Jun. The ATM lottery is open to all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces and winners will be randomly selected on 19 Jun. The military lottery will be conducted online at www.armytenmiler.com.

The 25th Army Ten-Miler sold out in a record six days shattering the 21 day record sell-out established last year. In the first 24 hours of registration 14,696 runners secured a spot in the Armys race. After the first day we knew the field would sell out fast but we didnt expect six days. The Army Ten-Miler has a Tradition of Excellence and we are pleased that so many runners have chosen to join us on Oct. 4 for this premier Army race, commented race director Jim Vandak.

A record 14,696 runners registered for the 25th annual Army Ten-Miler on opening day shattering last years opening day registration record of 8,344. Given the current 2009 registration pace, the Armys 25th anniversary race is on track to sell out in 10-12 days - well ahead of last years record 21 day sell out. The race has a Tradition of Excellence and we are pleased that thousands of runners from around the world choose to run Army. commented Jim Vandak, race director. The Army Ten-Miler has increased its field to 30,000 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the race. Over the years, we have been able to incrementally increase the runner field and maintain a safe, competitive race, commented Jim Vandak, race director. Since the 2008 race sold out in a record 21 days we looked at the logistics and felt that we could incrementally increase participation in this years 25th anniversary race, added Vandak.

The Army Ten-Miler race sold out its 26,000 registrations in a record 21 days! However, for the third year, ATM and Marathonguide.com will offer the online registration transfer process so there is still a chance to register if you didnt. Last year 1,200 runners entered the race by using the online registration transfer.

The Brazilians cleaned house at the Army Ten-Miler this morning, claiming four of the top five spots in the Washington, D.C., road race. Just one second separated the top two runners, as Jose Ferreira edged out Reginaldo Campos Jr. to cross the line at the 49:21 mark for the win.

For the last few months, a group of 37 wives at Forts Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield in Georgia have been training to run the 23rd annual Army Ten-Miler in honor of their deployed husbands of the 3rd Infantry Division. For some of these ladies, its their third deployment that they have had to cope with.

Registration for the 2007 Army Ten-Miler (ATM) closed on May 13, at 9:44am in a record 42 days. This year's increased field of 26,000 filled in roughly half the time as last year. After registering over 5,800 people on opening day, online registration continued at a blistering pace for Americas largest 10-mile race.

The 23rd Annual Army Ten-Miler, Americas largest 10-mile race, attracts 26,000 runners from all over the world to run a course that starts and finishes at the Pentagon and passes through DC. Participation in the Armys premier event holds significant meaning to Soldiers and civilians alike. One group of special interest is Missing Parts in Action (MPIA). This group is made up of military amputees as well as their physical therapists and this years race will have the largest participation rate of MPIA runners since the teams debut in 2004. The five military amputee teams and their support are from Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC), Brook Army Medical Center (BAMC), Fort Sam Houston, TX, and San Diego Naval Medical Center (SDNMC). While the names of the team members change from year to year, these Soldiers strength, courage, and morale remain unwavering

A record 5,808 people registered for the 2007 Army Ten-Miler (ATM) on Opening Day setting an all-time ATM registration record and shattering last year's opening day 2,700 registrations by over 3,000 entries. Race officials reported that online registration is averaging over 100 people an hour and that the 2007 registration pace is eight days ahead of 2006 registration which sold out in a record 81 days.
